In our pricing we rely on skilful risk assessment, not on occasional discount campaigns. As a customer of If, you do not have to pay for the discounts of others.

Customers who drive less each year pay less for their car insurance policies than those driving more kilometres. The pricing difference is based on statistics that show those who drive less have also fewer accidents. In addition, the price is influenced by the features of your car and your age and home address.

Accident-free years of driving with If or with any other insurance company contribute towards your bonuses and they can lower the price considerably.

Full Casco with 80% starting bonus

The bonus for the motor liability insurance is typically 30–80%, depending on your insurance and accident history.

The bonus rises quickly: you will reach the maximum bonus after five accident-free years. At that time you will also earn bonus cover, which means your first accident will not reduce your bonus.

Bonus for the collision cover of Full Casco is the maximum 80% right from the start. At If, you will have the same bonuses and benefits for your second car, too.

What things affect the price of insurance?

The price of car insurance is influenced by the characteristics of your car, the estimated annual driven mileage, and your age and home address. The price is additionally affected by your loyalty benefits and your previous insurance and claims history, on the basis of which we calculate your bonus.

Is there a loyalty discount for concentrating insurance?

When you choose a partial or full Casco for your car insurance, you are entitled to a 10% loyalty benefit on all your insurance premiums. When you also purchase home insurance from If in addition to the Casco, your benefit is 15%.

If Apu ('If Help') offers you anytime access to phone advice and support, if your car breaks down, if you are involved in an accident or you have any other concerns related to your car. If Apu can be contacted quickly online or by phone: 010 19 18 40. The call cost is charged at your phones standard call rate, and you'll be notified within 15 minutes of how we're going to resolve the situation. At the same time we will check your insurance and tell what expenses it covers. 24/7 towing and road service If Apu makes sure you can move on, if your trip is interrupted by an accident or a technical fault. Our professional towing partners will take your car to reliable first-rate repair shop or they solve your problem on the spot. When you order towing via If Apu, we take care of towing bill and file claim on your behalf, and your deductible is 0 euros. Otherwise deductible for towing is 50 euros. We also cover extra expenses incurred by the interruption of your trip up to 500 euro. Travel expenses and hotel charges are examples of such costs.	Included	Included	Not included
We will cover your vehicle, if it gets stolen. You will also receive compensation if the paint of on your car gets scratched or for other malicious damage. We also cover fire damage caused by a fire or by thunder. Your deductible is 200 euro	Included	Included	Not included
Legal protection covers trial costs relating to the use of your car. The upper limit of the coverage is EUR 8,500, and your deductible is 20% of the cost, at least EUR 200. We will also cover damage occurring outside the EU and EEA, such as in Green Card agreement countries, for which the driver of your vehicle is personally liable to third parties. Personal cover is a significant extension of the coverage provided by the mandatory motor liability insurance. All persons in the insured vehicle at any time are covered. If a traffic accident leads to bodily injury or death, compensation for non-permanent damage will be paid up to 21,000 euro, depending on the seriousness of the injury. Death cover relating to a traffic accident is 25,000 euro, payable to the deceased person’s estate. There is no deductible, and the compensation does not decrease the bonus. Pet coverage includes injuries to a dog or cat when they are a passengers in the vehicle. The cover compensates treatment expenses up to 3,000 euro, if the pet has received an injury requiring medical treatment in a traffic accident. If you run into an elk, a deer, or any other animal with your vehicle, we cover the damage to your vehicle without any decrease of your bonus. You just pay a 200 euro deductible.	Included	Included	Not included
We compensate for damage to your car caused by a collision of by you driving off the road. The collision cover also compensates for collisions in case the liability cannot be reliably established. The collision cover also covers a wide variety of damage situations, such as a tree, a branch or snow falling on and damaging your vehicle. Your preselected deductable reduces the compensation amount paid accordingly. A larger deductible reduces the cost of the Casco policy. The windscreen cover will compensate a broken windscreen without any bonus reduction. A repair does not affect the bonus, the deductible for a replacement is 200 euro. You might want to consider the windscreen cover, damage to a window is the type of damage compensated most frequently at If. Repairing the windscreen costs 70 euro on average, replacing the windscreen 750 euro on average. Replacing a windscreen equipped with heating or rain sensors may cost more than 1,000 euro. Redemption coverage guarantees proper compensation if your car is beyond repair. You'll get a better lump sum for the car, even if its value has already decreased. You will receive compensation equal to the cash selling price of a new similar car when the following conditions are met: your car is no more than three years old, and it has been driven a maximum of 60,000 km the estimated cost of repair exceeds 50% of the price of a new car you are the first owner of the vehicle. Otherwise, your compensation will be the cash selling price raised by 30%, when the repair cost estimate is more than 60% of the current price. What is the most significant difference between Full Casco and Semi Casco?

Full Casco compensates for the repair of your vehicle, if you e.g. cause a collision, drive off the road or damage your car in a parking garage. In addition, the parking cover compensates for the repair of dents caused by an unknown vehicle without any bonus reduction.

If's Semi Casco is the most comprehensive one in Finland. It provides compensation if you collide with an elk, a deer or another animal. Our towing coverage that includes technical faults is another reason one should at least consider getting a Semi Casco policy instead of a mere motor liability insurance.

The coverage of Semi Casco can be increased with a windscreen cover, which includes a low deductible. With a Full Casco policy you also get other optional additional covers.

The price difference between a Semi Casco and the mere motor liability insurance alone is often small, and with the initial 80% bonus we offer, the small price difference between a Full Casco and a Semi Casco may come as a surprise.

Will the cheapest motor vehicle insurance suffice?

A cheap car insurance that provides little coverage may be expensive in the long run, if it does not cover the commonest types of damage that even careful drivers cannot always avoid. We at If want to provide all our customers with professional service regardless of the coverage of the insurance. This is why If Apu is included in every car insurance policy.

The mandatory motor liability insurance is the cheapest car insurance you get at If. We recommend that you complement it with at least an affordable Semi Casco, as the motor liability insurance does not cover e.g. a broken windscreen, towing costs or damage caused when the vehicle is parked.
